There was a memorial gathering at the bar "288", on Elizabeth Street off Houston, at 5PM. Several of Gizmo's paintings were on display, as well as a short film of Gizmo at work. A case of his favorite red wine, Glen Ellen merlot, was donated by the management of Fanelli's and enjoyed by all. The management of 288 provided glasses, as well as cheese and crackers. Several people brought food, which was also very well received.

The gathering was a great success. The bar was packed with Gizmo's friends and family, several of whom stood up and spoke about him. The sidewalk outside was covered with messages written in brightly colored chalk.
The money collected at Milano's was presented to Gizmo's parents, and has been donated in his name to Pets Alive.
